Lighthouse Charity Regatta

Who is Lighthouse Charities, Inc.?

After partnering with the Red Cross and other organizations in the 1970s and 1980s, OCBC began an 11 year partnership hosting Passageway Regatta in 1990. The proceeds of this annual charity regatta benefited the YWCA Passageway shelter for battered and abused women and their children. In 2001, OCBC created a separate non-profit organization to continue hosting the annual charity regatta. The organization was incorporated as Lighthouse Charities, Inc., "LCI", and is a non-profit charitable corporation. It has received 501(c)(3) tax-deductible status approval by the IRS as a public charity.

Each year, some of proceeds distributed are given to 2 Oklahoma City community non-profit agencies. The primary purpose of those organizations is to benefit the children of our community. The primary beneficiary receives 2/3 of these distributed proceeds while the secondary receives 1/3. The following year, the secondary beneficiary becomes the primary, and a new secondary is brought in. Each charity, therefore is a recipient for two years in a row! This process continues year after year in order to provide opportunities to as many charitable organizations as possible. LCI has also made grants up to $2,000 to organizations or groups having children's and youth activities which don't fall within the guidelines for selection as a beneficiary.
